The KSRTC is set to build a new electric bus depot in Mysuru after the state government granted administrative approval for the project at Banni Mantap, where the KSRTC suburban bus stand is currently under construction.

The proposed depot will come up on 4.5 acres of land and will include charging infrastructure to support the city’s upcoming electric bus fleet. The project is estimated to cost around ₹7 crore.

As part of the plan, the facility will have parking space for 75 electric buses along with charging points for 25 buses and other supporting infrastructure. The development comes after the Union government sanctioned a fleet of 100 electric buses for Mysuru to promote green mobility and eco-friendly public transport.

The KSRTC has already floated a tender for the construction of the depot and is expected to finalise it by the end of the month. Officials indicated that work is likely to begin in July once the contract is awarded.

Currently, KSRTC operates 14 electric buses between Mysuru and Bengaluru, supported by two charging points at the KSRTC suburban bus stand.
