Spml Infra Wins ₹344.64 Crore ($38.04M) Water Infrastructure Contract Under Amrut Scheme In Chennai

SPML Infra, one of India’s leading infrastructure development companies, has been awarded a major contract valued at ₹344.64 crore ($38.04m) by the Chennai Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (CMWSSB). The project involves the implementation of a continuous water supply system for the Pallipatu and Thiruvanmiyur Water Distribution Stations (WDS) under Area XIII of Chennai city, delivered through the Hybrid Annuity Model (HAM). 

The contract has been awarded to a consortium comprising SPML Infra, JWIL Infra and Vishnusurya Projects & Infra.

The project aims to establish a modern, resilient and efficiently managed 24/7 water supply system serving two key distribution zones in Chennai. It supports Tamil Nadu’s broader urban infrastructure development objectives under the government of India’s AMRUT scheme and reinforces SPML Infra’s expertise in delivering complex water infrastructure projects alongside sustainable long-term operations and maintenance solutions.

The scope of work includes:• End-to-end engineering, design and construction of continuous pressurised water supply systems for the Pallipatu and Thiruvanmiyur WDS under Area XIII• Commissioning of upgraded network infrastructure under DBFOT (design, build, finance, operate and transfer) norms• Transformation of the existing intermittent water supply network into a continuous pressurised system.• Reduction of non-revenue water (NRW) to below 20%, with sustained improvements throughout the contract period• Completion of construction within two years• Long-term operations and maintenance for 15 years following commissioning
