Vedanta Limited has expanded its round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy capacity to 1.03 GW through power delivery agreements. This includes a combination of wind, solar, and pumped storage projects. The 1 GW capacity is expected to help reduce over 6 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually.Â
As a part of its decarbonisation strategy, the company has reported utilising 2.61 billion units of renewable energy in its operations. Moreover, it operates one of the largest fleets of lithium-ion forklifts at aluminium plants, has introduced LNG-powered trucks for logistics, and deployed India’s first battery-operated vehicles in underground zinc mining. Furthermore, the company plans to scale up its renewable energy capacity to 2.5 GW by 2030.Â
