Matrix Geo Solutions has been awarded a contract by North Western Railway to provide drone monitoring throughout the project for the double-track expansion of the Luni – Samdari – Bhildi line. The contract covers aerial video-based monitoring of the roughly 272 km corridor over a period of 30 months, with a contract value of around EUR 285,000 (INR 30.7 million). Matrix Geo Solutions will deploy unmanned aerial vehicles equipped with high-resolution cameras and sensors to capture georeferenced 4K video data along the entire routing on a monthly basis. Each image is assigned a precise GPS position, enabling the evaluation of construction progress and changes during individual project phases. The work being documented includes earthworks, ballast laying, track construction, bridge construction and other related infrastructure measures. North Western Railway, based in Jaipur, awarded the contract by letter of acceptance. According to those involved, the process reduces the need for physical inspections by senior staff by almost 50% and shortens the time required for reporting by around 25%.
