Trains travelling through Euroa in Victoria will switch to new rail lines in front of Euroa Station, paving the way for the removal of the old east track and platform as part of the Inland Rail project.  

Construction of the rail bridge over the future Anderson Street underpass has allowed the new east and west tracks to be laid in front of the station. 

Taking away the old east track and platform will allow work to begin on a new station forecourt, car park, and improved pedestrian access, opening the precinct to Railway and Binney streets. 

Initially, train services on the Albury line will operate on the new west track, but will not stop at the station until the western platform is completed later this year. Coaches will replace trains. 

The new east track adjacent to the station will be commissioned this week.  

Inland Rail said pedestrian access and parking will change as construction progresses, and temporary public parking will be available at the Euroa Hotel carpark, off McGuinness Street.  

The Railway Street bus stop will also be relocated to McGuinness Street for both V/Line and Public Transport Victoria services. 

Work on the Anderson Street underpass continues with 40,000 cubic metres of material, the equivalent of 16 Olympic swimming pools, set to be removed to form the vehicle underpass. 

An Inland Rail spokesperson said having train services up and running on the new tracks and over the rail bridge marks an important milestone for the project. 

“We are now removing the old east track and platform and starting work to open the station to the town. 

“The team has also made excellent progress on the excavation of the Anderson Street underpass.
