Key progress has been made on both stages of the $226 million Mulgoa Road upgrade in New South Wales.

Mulgoa Road is a main access route between Penrith and the M4 (Western) Motorway, connecting to the broader Sydney motorway network. Motorists currently experience high levels of congestion, which is expected to worsen over the next 15 years. 52,000 vehicles use this section daily.

The first stage of the project is now complete, with the works between Jeanette Street and Blaikie Road having widened Mulgoa Road to three lanes in each direction, improving access to and from the M4 Motorway and delivering safer, more efficient connections to surrounding retail and residential precincts.

Stage two of the works will upgrade the section between Jeanette Street and Glenmore Parkway, targeting a key pinch point to further improve traffic flow and reliability for the thousands of motorists who rely on this corridor each day.

Further south at Mulgoa, additional safety improvements are also being delivered, including shoulder widening, minor road realignment, and the installation of safety barriers at the intersection of Mulgoa Road and Roscrea Drive.

Work on the second stage of the project is expected to be completed by late 2028.
