EMSTEEL supplied low-carbon steel to the Oxford Train Station project

EMSTEEL announced that its low-carbon steel sheet pile products were used in the Oxford Train Station expansion project in the United Kingdom. The shipment was carried out through the company’s UK partner, Sheet Piling (UK) Limited, and the project is described as one of the country’s flagship railway infrastructure investments.

The multi-phase expansion project, with a total value of GBP 161 million, is being delivered by main contractor Kier on behalf of Network Rail. EMSTEEL’s sustainable steel sheet piles were used in retaining walls constructed as part of bridge and underpass widening works, enabling the addition of a new fifth platform at the station and an increase in train service capacity.

According to a statement by Sheet Piling (UK) Limited, the steel sheet piles were installed in a manner compatible with existing load-bearing structures. Installation works were carried out in line with carefully planned schedules to avoid disruption to rail traffic. During the piling operations, some rail lines were temporarily removed, with all works completed within the planned time windows and the lines returned to service as scheduled.

For EMSTEEL, the Oxford project is viewed not only as a product delivery but also as a strategic step that strengthens the company’s position in the European market. By offering products with a low carbon footprint that meet stringent infrastructure standards, the company aims to compete in markets where technical capability, performance, and environmental compliance take precedence over price. This strategy is also aligned with the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism.

Exporting its products to more than 70 countries and generating around 30% of its sales from international markets, EMSTEEL’s supply to the UK highlights the growing visibility of Middle Eastern producers in European infrastructure projects shaped by carbon regulations and high technical requirements.
