Younan Company has announced the development of a large utility-scale solar and battery storage project in California under Soleil Renewable Energy, LLC. The project is planned in East Kern county, on approximately 3,200 acres of owned land. It will have a solar generation capacity of 880 MWdc, equivalent to 700 MWac, paired with a 460 MW battery energy storage system. Commercial operations are targeted for mid-2028.
The project is expected to reach construction readiness within the next 18 months following the completion of environmental reviews. Development progress until now includes land acquisition, third-party land appraisal, and advancement of interconnection processes with the California Independent System Operator. Additionally, parallel interconnection efforts are underway with the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. Once fully operational, the project is projected to generate between 1,900 and 2,000 GWh of electricity annually.
In December 2025, Terra-Gen completed the project financing arrangements for the Lockhart III & IV solar project in San Bernardino county, California. The commitments for the project amount to $383.3 million, comprising a $236.1 million tax equity bridge loan, a $107.5 million construction and term loan, and $39.7 million in additional unfunded facilities. The financing has been arranged through four commercial US and international banks.
