Eib Provided Nearly Eur 700 Million For Railway Infrastructure Modernisation In 2025

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has provided nearly EUR 700 million for the modernisation of the Czech railway infrastructure in 2025. Around EUR 680 million is earmarked for projects on trans-European transport network (TEN-T) lines, including a loan of around EUR 495 million (CZK 12 billion) for technological and planning upgrades on connections to Austria and Poland. A further EUR 200 million will be invested in the renovation of regional lines, technical improvements, and the purchase of vehicles and maintenance equipment. The measures include the introduction of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS) on several lines and safety improvements at level crossings.
