Pm Modi Flags Off Four New Train Services, Including Amrit Bharat Express, Boosting Inter-State Connectivity

Four new train services were flagged off in Kerala by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, giving a major boost to the state’s rail infrastructure. The launch includes three Amrit Bharat Express trains and a new passenger service to improve long-distance and regional travel. The initiative strengthens inter-state connectivity while boosting tourism, trade, and travel convenience for pilgrims and commuters.

Introduction:

Southern India’s rail network received a significant upgrade on Friday as Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi flagged off four new train services in Kerala, marking a major milestone in the region’s transport infrastructure development. The newly introduced services include three Amrit Bharat Express trains and a passenger train, aimed at improving long-distance and regional connectivity across multiple southern states.

The Prime Minister flagged off the Nagercoil–Mangaluru Amrit Bharat Express, Thiruvananthapuram–Tambaram Amrit Bharat Express, Thiruvananthapuram–Charlapalli Amrit Bharat Express, and the Thrissur–Guruvayur Passenger Train, reinforcing Indian Railways’ commitment to affordable, modern, and efficient travel.

The event, held in Thiruvananthapuram, was attended by several dignitaries, including the Governor of Kerala, Shri Rajendra Arlekar, Chief Minister Shri Pinarayi Vijayan, Union Ministers Shri V. Somanna and Shri George Kurian, and Mayor of Thiruvananthapuram Shri V. V. Rajesh, among others.

Strengthening Kerala’s Rail Backbone:

Addressing the gathering, Prime Minister Shri Modi emphasized that Kerala’s rail connectivity has been significantly strengthened through the launch of the new Amrit Bharat Express services. He noted that these trains would enhance ease of travel, particularly for long-distance passengers, while offering modern amenities and improved safety standards.

The Prime Minister highlighted that enhanced rail infrastructure would play a vital role in supporting tourism, trade, education, employment, and cultural exchange, especially in a state like Kerala that attracts millions of visitors annually.

Boost for Pilgrims and Daily Commuters:

A key highlight of the day was the flagging off of the Thrissur–Guruvayur Passenger Train, which is expected to bring immense relief to pilgrims and daily commuters. Guruvayur, home to one of India’s most revered temples, witnesses heavy passenger movement throughout the year.

The Prime Minister remarked that the new passenger service would make journeys easier, more affordable, and more convenient for devotees traveling between Thrissur and Guruvayur, while also improving access to surrounding areas.

Nari Shakti Takes the Lead:

Adding to the significance of the occasion was the operation of one of the inaugural Amrit Bharat Express services by an all-women crew, symbolizing women’s growing role in India’s infrastructure and transport sectors. The moment was celebrated as a powerful example of “Nari Shakti in action,” blending progress, inclusivity, and operational excellence.

A Vision for Developed Kerala and Developed India:

Prime Minister Shri Modi underlined that these rail projects would accelerate Kerala’s overall development and reiterated that a developed Kerala is essential to realizing the vision of a developed India. He affirmed that the Union Government stands firmly with the people of Kerala in their development journey.

Concluding his address, the Prime Minister extended his best wishes to the people of the state and expressed confidence that improved connectivity would continue to unite regions, cultures, and communities across southern India.
