railwayThis May and June, Railway Children is giving the rail industry a fun, simple fundraising challenge to bring staff together, spark creativity and boost morale – all while changing the lives of vulnerable children.
What is the £50 Challenge?
Each team registering for the £50 challenge receives a £50 ‘stake’ to turn into much, much more – however they can!
Perhaps someone in the team is green-fingered, a whizz in the kitchen or a crafting superstar. Maybe team members sell their services around the office – desk cleaning, office daily brews or tackling tedious admin. Or the £50 pays for an event to bring everyone together while raising vital funds. Whatever they do, teams have two months to grow their stake as much as possible.
Why should workplaces take on the £50 challenge?
Every penny raised through the challenge will help change the lives of children and young people across the UK, India and Tanzania. Children like Finley,* referred to Railway Children aged 13 after anti-social behaviour at a train station.
Having lived in eight different care placements, Finley was disengaged from school and society and convinced nobody would stick around for him. “Having someone who kept showing up made the difference,” he says of his Railway Children youth practitioner. And, over time, Finley’s outlook began to change.
But this kind of consistency depends on people who are willing to fundraise.
Lizzi Hollis, Partnerships and Philanthropy Manager at Railway Children, said: “Railway Children’s £50 challenge brings together the rail industry and Railway Children in a common cause – to reach and safeguard vulnerable young people on the transport network, all while boosting morale, sparking creativity and inspiring innovation. And, of course, there’ll be some healthy competition along the way!”
But with just a couple of weeks left to sign up, companies should act quickly. Find out more and sign up here.
