waterThe Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) recently approved infrastructure projects with a combined outlay of around ₹12,000 crore and also gave the green light to the extension of the Jal Jeevan Mission with a proposed investment of over ₹5 lakh crore.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted that the approved multitracking railway projects will cover five districts across West Bengal and Jharkhand, aiming to enhance efficiency, reduce congestion, and strengthen connectivity in the region. “These projects will improve freight movement, support economic activity, and advance sustainable, low-carbon transport,” Modi said in a social media post.
An official statement confirmed that two Ministry of Railways projects, totaling approximately ₹4,474 crore, were approved. These include the 4th line on the Sainthia–Pakur section and the Santragachi–Kharagpur section, spanning Jharkhand and Bihar. “These multi-tracking proposals are poised to streamline operations and alleviate congestion,” the statement added.
