Early designs have been released for two level crossing removals and a new station in Seaford, Victoria.

Two rail bridges will be built above Armstrongs Road and Station Street, improving safety and easing congestion in the area by separating trains from vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists.

Locals have been invited to provide feedback on the designs for Seaford Station, which is set to open in 2028.

The designs show an elevated and more accessible station, with an entrance, stairs and a lift at each end of the station.

Better lighting and sightlines will boost safety, and there will be better connections in the station car parks and to Station Street, Seaford RSL and the Scout Hall.

New landscaped open spaces will be constructed under the elevated station and rail bridges, and new walking and cycling connections will link to the Kananook Creek Trail.

The designs have been influenced by community feedback, with the station and rail bridge inspired by the coastline and sand dunes, and colours drawn from the nearby Edithvale-Seaford Wetlands, Seaford Beach and local flora.

More than 5000 vehicles travel through the level crossings at Seaford every day, with the boom gates down for more than half an hour in the morning peak. Seven near misses have been recorded at the Station Street level crossing since 2016.

Construction on this project will start next year.

The community can view the early designs, provide feedback and sign up for information sessions at Engage Victoria by 11.59pm on Sunday June 7.
